Commander’s Comments

I would like to commend Lt Commander Kornagay for his outstanding efforts on the “True Confederate History” articles and Compatriot Dr. John Moody for his outstanding work on the Powhatan High School Scholarships.
Henry Kidd, the Commander of the Army of Northern Virginia, will have our prints of the first Powhatan Troop Muster Day ready by April.
I am looking for ideas from our Camp members for our Camp trips this summer.  We should have a busy spring and summer and I am looking for help from our Camp members.

The Cannon Report:

The February meeting will be held on the 26th at Frisby’s Restaurant, 2150 Anderson Highway.  Lunch will be at 12:00 and the meeting will start at 1:00.  We will have the bar area located behind the restaurant.  Our January meeting was held there and it has been remodeled.  Our guest speaker will be Powhatan County Supervisor Daniels.  We have invited him to address our Camp on the reasons he is against the Confederate History Month in Powhatan.

Lt Commander Kornegay’s first three articles are posted on our website, www.powhatan.org.  If you haven’t read the articles please take time do so, they are very informative.  If you do not receive the Powhatan Today, and do not have access to the internet, Commander Lee has copies of the Articles you may pick up at the meeting.

The March meeting will be held on the 26th at Rosa Restaurant in Flat Rock Shopping Center, just east of Flat Rock on Route 60.  Lunch at 1200; meeting at 1300.

The April meeting will be a Camp picnic at the Powhatan Courthouse on the 30th; more to come on this event.

On a sadder note, Camp Compatriot William Morris Lipham passed away on December 31st.  Compatriot Lipham was 73 and resided in Arnold Maryland.
