| Commanders Comment: I appreciate your trust in electing me Commander of Camp 1382 and I hope to keep the programs initiated by Past Commander George T. Lee, III going forward. Plans are also underway to have speakers at the monthly meeting, and it may be interesting to include short presentations on our individual ancestors. So if you have any interesting details on your ancestors please let me know. Delegate Lee Ware is tentatively scheduled to speak to us in March on important topics of the General Assembly. Billy H. Kornegay Commander Cannon Report: The January meeting was excellent; the Camp had a great turnout. There were only a couple of empty chairs in the room. Past Commander, Steve Mann, administered the oath of office to the new Camp Officers. Our guest speaker, Carolyn Cios, the Powhatan County Administrator, enlightened use on how the county government works. Outgoing Commander, George T Lee III, reminisced about the last four years of his command. Compatriot Michael Pogue accompanied the Camp’s singing of Dixie on his guitar. Commander Kornegay spoke to us briefly on the camp’s future. The February meeting will be on Sunday the 25th. It will be held at The Village Garden Café, 1 p.m. lunch, and 2 p.m. meeting. The Village Garden Café, 8844 Old Buckingham Rd. is just east of the Courthouse. Cost per person is $9.00. The sandwich buffet and sides are excellent, as is the environment. As your new Lt. Commander and The Cannon Report Editor, I encourage each of you to attend ”your meetings.” Participation is a great way to further the SCV cause; after all, it is not your fellow compatriots that you honor with your presence, but your Confederate ancestors.
